Ocracoke is a living maritime village and keeping that tradition of living off the water alive is what bonds us – socially, economically and environmentally. If preserving our heritage is important to us, it will be important to the visitors that come each year. The Ocracoke Foundation, in partnership with the Ocracoke Preservation Society is filming interviews with local residents to capture their memories and thoughts about maritime life today. The interviewing will be an ongoing project beginning with our elderly residents. Ocracoke students will do the filming. Clips will be available on line.
